1. PRAYER
"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him" [1 John 5:14-15].
2. BIBLE READING & STUDY
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" [2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21].
3. CHURCH PARTICIPATION
"For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God" [Romans 12:4-5; 1 Peter 4:10].
4. CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP
"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" [John 13:34-35]. "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death" [1 John 3:14].
5. WITNESS FOR CHRIST
As Christ is the Chief Cornerstone, Foundation and the Cap-Stone of the total working of the Kingdom of God, so is the Work of Witnessing for Christ in the Lifestyle of the Victorious Christian. There can be no genuine total victory without testifying of the goodness of God through His Son Jesus Christ, in fact there is an adverse effect. Jesus Himself said: He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad [Matthew 12:30]. I think that before we can ever begin to grasp the importance of that statement, we need to look at the last words of the Master just before His ascension into Heaven. We call it His Great Commission to His Church, and really it is the very Mission of the Church in this world. Everything we do is supposed to be within the scope of this "first love" of the saved soul. Picture yourself in His very presence and listen to Him carefully and intently as He speaks these words:
- The Great Commission of Christ to His Church -
Matthew 28:18-20
[18] And Jesus came and spake unto them,
saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and
in earth.
[19] Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost: [20]
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I
have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the
world. Amen.
Mark 16:15-18
[15] And he said unto them, Go
ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
[16] He that believeth and is
baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
[17] And these signs shall follow
them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak
with new tongues;
[18] They shall take up serpents;
and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay
hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Luke 24:45-49
[45] Then opened he their understanding, that they might
understand the scriptures,
[46] And said unto them, Thus it is written, and
thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
[47] And that repentance and
remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning
at Jerusalem.
[48] And ye are witnesses of
these things.
[49] And, behold, I send the
promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until
ye be endued with power from on high.
John 20:21
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my
Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is
come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
- And Add to That the Words of the Apostle Paul -
2 Cor. 5:18-20
[18] And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus
Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
[19] To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself,
not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word
of reconciliation.
[20] Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you
by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Can there be any question as to what the will of God is for us in this world. The heart of God is expressed in the words of the Apostle Simon Peter: "The Lord . . . is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" [2 Peter 3:9]; of the Apostle Paul: "[God] will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" [1 Timothy 2:4]; and of Christ Himself: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved" [John 3:16-17]. We need to understand that the heartbeat of God is the salvation of the lost through the Gospel of Christ by His Church.
There are many "programs" available today for the evangelization of the world, but nothing takes the place of good old fashioned fervent prayer stirred up by the love of God in the heart for the lost. Jesus had compassion on the multitudes, and He still has compassion on the multitudes. Do you feel His love for them? Talk to Him about it. This is where you really begin to live, when you find out what your life really is. When this is all over and we stand before Him we are going to find that the "good and faithful" are those who were wise enough to have "oil in their vessels" and, to the surprise of so many, the evidence of that "oil" is the work they have done in propigating the Gospel because "he who wins souls is wise" in the eyes of God.
The most powerful weapon a Christian has against the ignorant and superstitious
"darkness" of the lost is his or her own personal testimony of the good things
God has done for him or her. Just tell them what you have seen or heard yourself.
God will use your words to cut through the blindness of their hearts
and minds. Scripture is always the source of revealed truth to the one seeking
truth, but they must first be stirred to seek. A good testimony consists
simply of:
[1] Your life before you met Christ (briefly),
[2] How you met Christ, and
[3] Your life since you've met Christ.
A good "basic" presentation of Scripture is what we call the "Roman Road" from the Book of Romans in the New Testament. The real Power behind the Gospel Message is the Holy Spirit working through a genuinely loving, caring heart that is sincere in seeking out those whom God is calling to repentance. These are "the little flock" to whom He has promised the Kingdom. Where do we fit in all of this? The only thing that matters in the end is what part we've played in this work.
We must learn to love as God loves. As someone has well said, "No one cares how much we know until they know how much we care." True love will exercise itself in genuine works of love. It's hard to love someone without showing it somehow! Remember, hell awaits the unregenerated soul.
Consider a Tract Ministry or giving out Bibles, New Testaments or Portions of Scripture to as many people as you can. Even if the individual person you give it to doesn't read it, he or she will probably leave it somewhere that someone else might. Remember, the Word of God is as seed that we plant by giving it out. Water your "seed" with much prayer, and God will bring forth an increase that you'll probably never completely realize until we're there with Him. God bless you, my brother or sister (fellow-laborer) as you go forth into the fields of the world bearing precious seed. Check this out as a possible reference to someone [Click Here].
